Class 11 - New Grass Ley
Conditions
Competitors are invited to enter one nominated field minimum of five acres.
As a conventional reseeded ley, as a direct drilled into stubble, or into a desiccated previous ley.
Assessment
The judge will award marks for each of the following aspects:-
- Density and uniformity.
- Weed control.
- Potential Yield
- Inputs (chemicals/fertiliser) used related to potential yield, soil type, previous cropping and use of organic manure (F.Y.M./slurry) will be taken into account.
Points will also be awarded for presentation and co-operation.
Awards
The winner will receive the “Harvey Hughes Trophy” to retain for one year and in addition, painted oak shields are presented as permanent mementoes to the first three placings.
